Golden Retriever ‘Helps’ Dad by Holding His Ladder

That’s exactly what happened when a Golden Retriever named Marley decided to help his dad by holding onto a ladder as he worked.

Posted on July 16, the video has already received more than 347K likes. It begins with Marley’s dad standing on a ladder as he works on a surveillance camera attached to the outside of their home. But instead of watching from a distance, Marley decides he has an important job of his own.

As his dad works overhead, the Golden Retriever gently places one paw on the bottom rung of the ladder and keeps it there. It appears as though Marley is convinced he’s helping hold the ladder steady. He stays by the ladder throughout the repair, looking completely focused on the task and never wavering from his position. The moment is made even funnier by the text displayed on the video, which reads, “My dog thinks he has to hold the ladder for dad.”

Whether Marley actually believed he was making the ladder safer or simply wanted to be involved, his determination was clear. The caption added another humorous touch, joking, “Basically saved dads life.”
