Sometimes a random electronic beep sounds like a total catastrophe to a dog who was just minding his business. Bruce is currently vibrating with intense concern because a circuit breaker decided to trip in his Seattle home. The star of @backitupbruce isn’t one to hide under the furniture, though. Instead, this Golden Retriever is backing up into his owner to perform his signature “comfort stompies.” He’s a total pro at using butt wiggles to communicate, and even landed a spot on the Kelly Clarkson Show for these unique moves.

The video catches Bruce mid-crisis, and he is already parked firmly against Brittany’s leg while stomping his feet. She’s filming the whole dramatic scene while repeating that everything is totally fine. However, the beepy noise was clearly a big deal for him. His stomps actually get more frantic as he tries to shake off the nerves.

Interestingly, his owner mentions in the caption that he has wiggles for every emotion. He does this when he’s happy, scared, excited, or even just feeling a bit jealous. Brittany starts giving him some lower back scritches to help him settle down. Bruce turns around for a quick sniff of her hand to make sure she’s still there.

This behavior is quite classic for a Golden Retriever, given their highly social and sensitive nature. He needs that physical touch to feel safe again. Next, the dog switches sides to get another sniff and a few more reassuring words. The owner keeps telling him there is nothing scary here. He finally starts to believe her and stops the rhythmic thumping.

Over 10k people have already liked the clip, as of the time of writing, with many calling it a very cute coping mechanism. One fan joked that it’s basically “comfort twerking.” Another viewer noted that he has officially decided his human is now his “anxiety stomps person.” We’ve actually seen Bruce use these same stompies to express his hilarious “grumpy grumbles” in a previous story. It’s just his way of making sure everyone knows exactly how he feels.
